Textual Analysis of music video inspiration

A lot of inspiration for my music video has come from Olivia Rodrigo's Drivers License music video:

The opening shot of the video uses very dark lighting which sets the scene for the rest of the video and also perhaps shows how she is feeling which is upset and very down because of her recent breakup. We also see the use of a longshot to show only one car on the road that could represent how she feels alone. I am going to incorporate dark lighting and colours into my own video to also represent how my artist is feeling as she feels trapped in this toxic relationship.

The next shot is contrasted to the last one with the use of high key lighting and golden colours. We can see here that the Artist seems quite concealed by the way she is stood in this shot perhaps suggesting that she doesn't feel confident about who she is and maybe she has lost a part of herself by losing someone she loves. I am inspired by this contrast of low key and high key lighting and I am going to use this to show the toxicity of the relationship my artist is in by showing a glimmer of happy moments she has with her partner and using golden, high key lighting in these memories then contrast the rest of the video with dark almost black and white lighting to show her pain.

Throughout the video we see scenes like this where she is with a boy, who we can assume is her boyfriend, however we never see his face which could suggest his irrelevance in the video as it is song and video about her emotions not his.

Here we see a wide shot of the singer sat at an empty dining table. Dark lighting and shadowing is used around her which could symbolise how she is feeling sad, empty and alone.
